Maharana Pratap was born on 9th may 1540 in Kumbhalgarh, Rajasthan

His father name was Maharana Udai Singh 2 and his mother name was rani jeevanti bie.

According to the English calendar, the date of birth is 9th may in every year

But

According to the Hindu calendar  shows

the warrior king’s birth anniversary on the Tritiya tithi of Jyeshta's Shukla paksha

Hence  13th June we celebrated a Jayanti of Maharana Pratap.

 

The birth anniversary of Maharana Pratap is being observed across India on Sunday

 Several states, including Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh,

celebrate  Maharana Pratap Jayanti  in full swing also declare the day as a public holiday.

History of maharana Pratap

 

Maharana Udai Singh II ruled the Rajasthan the kingdom of Mewar, with his capital in Chittoor.

 Maharana Pratap  was the eldest of twenty-five sons  and hence given the title of the crown prince .

Maharana Pratap  was  destined to be the 54th ruler of Mewar inline with the Sisodia  Rajputs.

 

He is very brave  from his childhood, Maharana Pratap learn all types of war skills.

 

As a warrior Maharana Pratap

In 1567,

The Mughal forces surrounded Mewar's capital Chittoor.

Instead of fighting with the Mughal forces,

 Rana Udai Singh left the capital and shifted his family to gouda.

 

Through the Maharana Pratap resisted this decision and

Insisted on staying back.

 But

 

The elders were able to convince him that leaving the place was the right decision.

A temporary government of the kingdom of Mewar was set by Udai Singh and his courtiers in Gogunda.

 

 Maharana Pratap succeeded to the throne of his father in 1572.

Chittor, the capital of Mewar had already been captured

by Mughals in 1568.

Thus  maharana Pratap  was without his capital, without resources and  

his claim eclipsed by reverses yet he continued the fight for the Honour of Mewar.

 Akbar sent a series of missions to Maharana Pratap to persuade him

to accept Mughal suzerainty and to pay personal homage.

Maha Rana Pratap considered  these conditions humiliating...

 So  long as the people of Mewar swore by their maharana,

Akbar could not realize his ambition of being the Jahan Panah of Hindustan,

 

The last of these missions was headed by raja man Singh.

The brother-in-law of Akbar himself.

Maharaja Pratap angered that his fellow Rajput was aligned with someone

who had forced the submission of all Rajputs?

Refused to sup with raja man Singh,

The lines were completely drawn now

Akbar understood that Maharana Pratap would never submit

 And

 he would have to use his troops against Mewar.

Akbar sent a strong Mughal army under the command of raja man Singh and Asaf Khan to attack Mewar.

 Maha Rana Pratap  had a very small army of 3000 horsemen,

 

A ferocious battle took place at Haldighati on June 18, 1576.

 The charge of  Maharana Pratap was so fierce the Mughal army felt desperate.

 In  1576,

The famous battle of Haldighati  fought with 20000 Rajputs against a Mughal army of 80000 men.

By Raja man Singh,

The battle was  fierce though indecisive  to the Mughal army’s

 astonishment maharana pratap’s army was not defeated.

But  maharana Pratap was surrounded by Mughal soldiers.

His estranged brother, Shakti Singh appeared and saved the Maharana Pratap's life.

Another casualty of this war was Maharana Pratap's famous

And

Loyal horse  chetak, who gave up his life trying to save his Maharana Pratap.

 He took an oath “ so long as I  do not recover Chittoor,

It must  sleep on the ground , will eat out on leaves

And will  not turn my mustaches”

 He on served the vow throughout his life.

Pratap spent approx  four years wandering about in the mountains and

jungles of western Mewar.

 Maharana Pratap acquired intimate knowledge of every nook and corner of the side.

 FINAL YEARS OF MAHARANA PRATAP

 After this war, Akbar tried several times to take over Mewar

Falling each time,

 Yet  the relentless attacks of the Mughal army had left his army weaker

Maharana Pratap  had enough money to keep it  going,

 Maharana Pratap regained control over western Mewar

Including Gogunda, Kumbhalgarh, and Udaipur,

He built a new capital at Chavand near Dungarpur.

 The great warrior left for the heavenly abode on 28th Jan 1597.

Maharana Pratap's age at that time was 56.

 Maharana Pratap, as a result of injuries sustained during his

incessant struggles against the Mughal empire

Maharana Pratap's son Amar Singh 1 succeeded him to the throne of Mewar.

 Akbar never defeated maharana Pratap thorough his whole life.

 Such a brave leader he was  we should learn from so many things from maha rana Pratap.

 Now, some lesser known facts about Maharana Pratap.

 

1-     Maharana Pratap, regarded as one of the strongest warriors in Indian history.

2-     Maharana Pratap was 2.26 meters ( 7 FEET 5 INCHES) tall.

3-     Maharana Pratap would wear a body armor of 72 kilograms and carry a spear of 81 kg.

4-     Maharana Pratap had defeated the Mughal emperor Akbar thrice -in 1577,1578 and 1579.

5-     Maharana Pratap had 11 wives and 17 children

6-     His eldest son name Maharana Amar Singh 1

7-      Amar Singh was the 14th king of the Mewar dynasty
